Recently I tried to open and .stl file made in Pro-E with SW
and the file opens, but you get an error if trying to resave. An SW
.stl file was not able to be opened by Pro-E. Are the types of .stl
files created by the two softwares that different? Has anyone else
experience this?
The only thing I can think of off hand is that ProE may require either an ASCII or Binary STL file when opening. When you save the STL in SolidWorks, click the Options button and you can set the STL to write as ASCII or Binary. This is really a shot in the dark as I haven't used ProE since 2001.
