    Disappearing Data Card Icons

    Steve Ruderman
We switched to PDM Enterprise 2008 (from 2007) and have found the display of the data cards is problematic. Images no longer show and display of the cards is very slow. It seems each icon is loading slowly from the server and not caching from the local drive. In addition, some of the cached image files are 0KB.

Has any one else experienced this?

          Steve -

          Are you using replication?

              Joy,

Yes. Four locations throughout the country. Issue brought up to our VAR and reported it to SolidWorks, but no response yet. Icon files are re-caching locally every time a card is shown.

Problem went away, don't know why or any other circumstances, and just came back today after I corrected a typo on a card (static text) and saved it. Then I just opened our other cards, saved them and closed card editor. Problem surfaced after each card was saved.

                  Hi Steve -

It 'might' have something to do with the following bug found with scheduled replication. The bug is that the index.xml file becomes incorrectly updated in the add-ins (plugins) and Images folders on the archive server - leads to add-ins not distributing correctly. Logically images should fail distributing as well.

Have a look in the images folder on the vault archive, each image used in the vault will have an archive folder - the index.xml should look like this: see image 1

If the replication bug has happened, the index.xml file will look like this instead - (seem image 2) containing an extra "version" identifier. That could cause retrieval of the file to fail.
