    problem with Automatic solve

    Teresa Martin
I am trying to copy & paste an existing sketch from autocad to sw2008. When I paste it into an active sketch and then try to fix points or add relations Solid Works gives me a message that automatic solve has been turned off. When I go to sketch settings to turn it back on it is checked as if it is on but the command is greyed out and it will not allow me to turn it back on. Has anyone else run into this problem. Nothing I have tried had worked and it would take me way to much time to draw this sketch from scratch.
      Thanks!

When trying to create solid models from sketches imported with AutoCAD, I strongly suggest putting the imported AutoCAD data in one sketch (you can let it have automatic solving off). Then create another sketch and use "convert entity", or just redraw lines, using the other sketch as reference. This will create a sketch that can easily be modified to make it extrude/build properly into a 3D part.
