Dear SolidWorks users,
I have been working with SolidWorks for more than 7 years, I started with SW2000.
Mostly I never work on the single part but usually I work on module (assembly), which contains many parts. The different parts in the module influence on each other. So this is useful to see the all assembly in front of me during the working. From other hand, it is more convenient to work on single part than on entire assembly. Therefore, I like to try some working mode when I have at least two monitors: one for main assembly and one for parts.
I would like to hear from your experience for such working process.
Thank you in advance.

I have been working with dual monitors for several years now, and I don't know how I ever worked with just one. There are two modes I work in.
1) Have Solidworks maximized on one monitor, while I have excel (for design tables), or a PDF of a drawing, or a suppliers web site maximized on the other monitor. This works great because I don't have to keep switching back and forth between the two application, and it also save paper because then I don't have the urge to print off what I am working on.
2) I expand the Solidworks program across both monitors and have an assembly open on one monitor, and a part that I might be changing on the other. This also works great for visualizing the part within the assembly, or the changes I am making to the part within the assembly. Another great feature of having dual monitors is dragging a part from the part window directly into an assembly. It save a whole lot of time and mouse clicks. The only downfalls to this method are the placement of the tools relative to each monitor. My toolbars are mostly located on the left side of the UI, and when I am working on something in the right monitor, I have to move my mouse all the way over to the left side of the left monitor. But I would still highly recommend using more then one monitor.
One thing I would like to see Solidworks do is to allow maximization of the UI over two or more monitors, and then allow the part, drawing or assembly to be maximized on one monitor. I have tried to open multiple Solidworks sessions, but then I cannot drag and drop parts, and updates to assemblies take longer.
Anyway that's just my 0.02
