Use a sketch to analyze a Mechanism?

I would like to be able to build a sketch "assembly" using blocks inside a sketch to build a mechanism, and then analyze the motion of that assembly. Is there any way to do this?

Essentially, I would like to built a mechanical system in a sketch, using blocks. Say, for example, a 4 bar linkage. Then I would like to be able to drive some point in the linkage, and look at the motion of another point on the linkage. Is there an easy way to do this? Does anyone have a workaround?

The best I have come up with is to make a bunch of configurations, and then "drive" the assembly by changing a driving dimension in each of the configurations, then put in some driven dimensions for my output. It's okay, but it would be nice if there was a systematic way to do this.

Any thoughts?
