For some reason my materials database is either missing or mis-linked. How to I get this database back without doing a complete re-install?

If you go to Comosworks, then Options.. on the main menu it will open a settings window. Click on the Default Library and then add in the location of the database file:
Hope this does it.
PS It seems you have to have a part open and Comos added it to do this. If you just open solidworks, the Cosmos menu is not shown.
