Hi Guys,
First post on Solidworks Forum so not sure if this is the right place for this but any direction would be helpful as my skill set doesn't really go beyond Solidworks modelling and drawing creation.
I am wanting to create a professional 3D simulation rendering animation which shows a small and large boat bobbing around beside each other in heavy seas.
So far i have created the following simple animations of the boats moving around beside each other:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgjAhvFeOVs
As you can see I am no animation/rendering guru as they look like models rather than professional renders set in realistic scenes with realistic waves textures lighting etc.
The following video has some good examples of the sort of quality i am trying to create at around 1:02 - 1:05, still shots of which can be seen below.
Not sure if Solidworks can achieve the sort of quality below or if another program is better suited to the task in which case I may need 3rd party support but not even sure where best to look for it.
Any advice or direction is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
You could create something like this in SW but the results might not be as realistic as you'd like them to be. Making the boats look more realistic is easy enough. PV360 does have some water materials that look pretty realistic when used with displacement and you can animate their movement so the water wouldn't look terrible although It may not have a realism feel.
This is something that is probably better suited for different software. Modo, 3D Studio Max, Maya, something like that.
I'd give it a quick test try in SW/PV360 and if it isn't what you need then I'd move to more CG type software.
