You just have to "know your stuff" and present it in a manner that people understand it.

I would agree with that. Its a TON of work!
After a concert, a young boy runs up to Mozart and enthusiastically asks, "Herr Mozart, can I be a composer?"

I think having "thick skin" would help considering many people will have their own better (?) ways to accomplish almost everything. Best of luck in making the decision!

the best books are the SolidWorks training manuels followed by Matt Lombard, not sure why anyone would want to elaborate any further.
