Is there a way to use a global variable to define a plane (such as an offset distance). In general I have noticed that only some features seem to allow values to be linked to global variables (easily). Is there a rationale for this?
Yes you can do that. Not in front of system so can't verify if this has changed. But as as old school method, create the plane with any distance. Then double click on it and that would show the plane dimension. Double click on that and then in the dimension edit box you can put the required variable.
The other route to get this to work is to activate equations and change the input value into an equation in the equation manager.
Deepak's method should work. Here's a screenshot of my test.
