This may be an option.
The 2015 version gives you the abilty to set layers so they don't print. For example I have a watermark on my template that is set to a custom property.
this note is set on layer that doesn't print
When I go file>print i get the drawing with no watermark or note in your case
But if I go File>Save As and select PDF it comes out with the watermark on it
The only down side would be that the note would be visible while you are working on the drawing but it's the only way i can think of doing it without PDM setting the custom property via transition.
Thanks for your response this works for what I need!
Yes, it can be done. Assign the note to a Layer that's visible but set to not print. (See the BLACK layer settings below.) When saved as a pdf the note will be visible, but when printed directly from SolidWorks it won't be. But keep in mind that this will only work if the drawing is saved as a pdf. If it is printed to pdf the note will not be visible.
Thanks for your response this works well!
Is it also possible to show the note on a saved/printed pdf, but not on the drawing itself? Constantly having a note on the background can be quite distracting. I essentially want the note to remain hidden while working on the drawing, but becomes visible whenever I want to print it on paper/pdf.
With kind regards,
PS. My apologies for highjacking this discussion.
