I have installed the student versions of ANSYS 16.2 and SolidWorks 2015 64x.
I am having trouble configuring the ANSYS plug-in for SolidWorks. The ANSYS plug-in does not appear in the SolidWorks plug-in menu.
I read in another forum that I need to use the CAD configuration manager and first check off "Workbench and ANSYS Geometry Interfaces" as shown below in the menu below.
ANSYS Products (Required)
-Workbench and ANSYS Geometry Interfaces
-ICEM CFD Direct CAD Interfaces
I also read that I need to make sure the SolidWorks plug-in is in the correct directory. I moved the SolidWorks plug-in to the following directory:
C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v162\aisol\CADIntegration\sw
When I open the CAD configuration manager, the menu with "Workbench and ANSYS Geometry Interfaces" does not show up on the top left of the screen. As a result, I cannot figure the SolidWorks add-in.
How can I fix this problem?
I certainly hope you already have gotten an answer to this question, but the likely source of the problem was the initial installation of Workbench, which needs to be done by an administrator account and the SolidWorks geometry interface must be selected. That will copy the required files AND register necessary components for all users. ANSYS has mostly moved away from Windows registry usage to lessen its footprint and only registers those components necessary for third party integration. The installation of WB should then set up the SolidWorks plug-in to automatically load on startup and the ANSYS <version> menu should appear.
Hope that helps.
