Editing appearances of surfaces/parts in drawing?

I'm trying to alter the appearances of different parts in an assembly drawing that I am making, so that it is easier to read and visualize. There are 2 things I am trying to accomplish with appearance changes and line font, but I can't seem to be able to select the right options to do what I want. Two questions below:

1) The big block that's highlighted red is a portion of the existing frame that is already present. The surfaces that are shaded red are cut out sections in the frame, so is there any way to change the surface appearance to show it as a cut out section of the frame? Something like diagonal lines that you'd see when making a sectional drawing view.

2) Is there a way to make the highlighted red block see through while the rest of the assembly stay the same? Ex. In the display style box in the property manager, have the red block "Hidden Lines Visible" while the rest of the assembly is "Hidden Lines Removed".
