Hi,
I'm still a newbie when it comes to PDM.
We're just getting ready to launch Standard PDM Beta Vault, coming from a Windows folder system. We create .STEP files for purchasing and Parasolid files for our in-house CNC. Does anyone have advice on the best practice to manage these files? I was thinking of storing them in the vault as a reference file linked to the part and I have the Data card showing when such a file is referenced. The linked file however doesn't have a revision assigned. Do I need a separate workflow for that?
Thanks.
Hi Helmie, i believe in PDM Standard you are limited to having one workflow only (apologies I missed this detail in your original post) so in your case you can put the Parasolid and STEP files in with your CAD files and if you attach them to the CAD files using Paste as reference, then they will move through the workflow along with your CAD files and consequently have the same revision.
Kind regards,
Prasad
