In SP3, no matter if I make features visible or invisible, icons and text look exactly the same. Sketches work however. This BUG appears in both Blue and Classic Icon sets.
It has always been like this. You can hide sketches, planes, bodies, surfaces..... You can suppress features. There is no hiding them.
Hi Harald, can you post some screenshots of the behaviour you are seeing?
I'm seeing the same thing, if you hide a feature in the tree the icon stays the same, no way of seeing if it is hidden. This is within part environment. If you hide part within an assembly then the icon greys out like it should.
Same behavior in SW14 SP3. Hasn't it always been the case that the icons don't change for visible / hidden features at the part level?
Maybe it is... cant remember,
Although the update notes on the other thread says it applies to features too.
You could try suppressing it instead of hiding it? not sure if that would achieve what you're trying to get?
"Same behavior in SW14 SP3. Hasn't it always been the case that the icons don't change for visible / hidden features at the part level?" - Dave, I'm pretty sure it has always been that way.
"You could try suppressing it instead of hiding it? not sure if that would achieve what you're trying to get?" - Harry, in some cases that might work, but it also would cause child features, if any, to become suppressed and that may not be wanted.
The way to be able to tell at the part level is to show your "Solid Bodies" and "Surface Bodies" folders.
This will let you know what is hidden and what is not. See the screen shots below (this is from 2015, not really sure how it affects 2016, but I didn't see anything that would change it in the what's new):
You can see that it shows hidden.
Hiding any feature in the tree that is part of a body hides the whole body.
Thanks folks but:
1 There is a profound difference between suppressend and invisible
2 Of course I could enter my car via the trunk, but I just won't.
I want this fixed is all.
My response above is isn't suppressing anything. I just showed you how you can see that things are hidden. It doesn't show each feature as hidden because its not supposed to. You can't hide a single feature of a body......only the whole body.
