Hello all, I did a pack and go and changed all the parts and drawings to a suffix when I did it but now I want to take away the suffix of the models and drawings using a pack and go. Is there an easy way to do this?
For e.g. you've prefix/suffix XX and you've a similar thing in the file name, then it may get changed/removed in both places. So replace one by one while watching in case you've a similar situation.
If you still have the original files you used before the "pack/go" it may be simpler to just use them instead? I don't believe "Pack/Go" allows for removing suffix/prefixes. You may be able to write a macro to remove them.
Thanks for the quick reply. I made changes to the models and drawings and now want to put them back on server but without the suffix and over write the old ones. Just wondering if there was an easier way to go about it then having to change each models name and re save over existing on server.
The quickest way to losing all relationships in all your sketches is a mistake in the renaming process - "If you're not very very very Careful)
The best way would be to do like Deepak mentioned select/replace - however before I would do that, I would delete the entire original folder, providing you have the information that you need, then pack and go to another directory, not the same directory, especially if your work is stored on a server. If you're just working off a personal computer then at minimum make another folder within a folder, that has no connection with the original files,. only then do your pack and go without the suffixs'
Pack & Go has been my weak spot for a long time and nothing sucks more than opening up an assembly and all the sketches have broken relations... It took me a while to get a workflow in place and seems to work well now..
Use the select/replace option in pack and go to remove/change that prefix/suffix. But be careful when you do that
