If you have a drawing that doesn't crash with your template then open that drawing and delete everything on it and save over the old template with it. See if that works.
The culprit, IMO, is the Custom Property files and the custom property call out in the sheet template double check your property.txt file and all the custom property call outs in the Drawing Template the $PRPSHEET:"Description......... and if you use Custom Property Tab Builder check those files as well.
If it's any of those issues it could take a while if you use a lot of custom properties.
I don't think I have a property.txt file. I just set up my custom properties in the template to pull straight from the model file. Is this something I need to look into to try and fix my template?
I don't have but 8 custom properties that get imported.
Do a search in your C:\Programs folder - search for the properties.txt file
Check the spelling and if there are any spaces between the words, if you use more than one.
The properties.txt file should have a list of all your properties...
Custom Property Tab Builder
Part Drawing Properties
Drawing Template (Edit Sheet Mode)
The spelling needs to be exact including spaces etc....
Thanks for your response!
Would it be beneficial for me to delete any properties I don't use and just keep the ones I do?
Edited to add: Also, where do I find the property tab builder? Seems like that would be very useful!
It seems that the Custom Property Tab Builder is the least marketed tool in SW - I used it every day on every project, very simple once you get to do a few different setups.
Custom Property Tab Builder is located in the SolidWorks Tools Folder
Start - All Programs - SolidWorks - SolidWorks Tools
Hi John, i have a similar problem.
I created my drawing template including all custom properties necessary for my project , this properties are new, i mean, i edited the properties.txt file to attach the values i need.
And my sheet format:
It work perfectly:
The problem come when added a new sheet. The second sheet must change with the input of a new part, that not happen, each sheet that adds, drags info from the first sheet.
Do you have any idea why this happens?
Another important data, in sw 2015 all of these configurations worked perfectly, but with the 2016 update stopped working
I hope you can help me
I have at least 20 different sheet templates/sheet formats and yes when you add a sheet SW will pull in from the last sheet you selected, you can right click the drawing got to properties and select the sheet format you need, then the next sheet you add will match the one you just changed.
BTW, when you open a new drawing, do a save as "Sheet Format"
I reviewed a little more and i fear it is not a problem with my custom sheet format, i tried with the originals formats of sw and got the same result, all sheets drag the information of the first part placed on the drawing.
Like i said, this configuration worked on sw 2015 and stopped with the update to sw 2016, i start to believe it is a problem with this upgrade
Thank you so much
Check with your VAR - could be a bug
