I am trying to create a pattern of rods which project out of a cylinder. I started with a linear pattern down the length of the cylinder, and would follow by patterning the resulting row of projecting rods around the cylinder. The image below should make it clearer. I've tried different combinations, creating the circular pattern first and then the linear patter, patterning as a body, etc., but I always get a message saying SW cannot pattern the selected feature.

I have seen this done on youtube (Solidworks | Tutorials | Comb Hair | 3D Modeling | - YouTube ) so I'm wondering why it's not working for me.

SW 2015 sp3. Any help much appreciated!
