Hi everyone,
So I want to do a knurling on a flat surface for a 3D print (so it can't be a texture or an "appearance"). I also don't want the pattern to be on the entire surface (or face), I only want it to be on the area I marked in red in the image
So the model is attached, including an image of where I want the knurling to be.
Any advice on how to do a knurling on a flat surface?

You could also use Fill Pattern. Might be easier when playing with dimensions, initial placement and knurl type.
The fill pattern tool is quite genius, thank you for introducing me to it, Thomas! I tried it myself and it worked like a charm.
Ned -- I tried going over what you did. You seem to have created a linear pattern of two 45/-45 degrees lines, I just don't get how
1) You turned them all into a diamond pattern without clicking on them one by one.
2) You managed to only do them on the face I requested while avoiding the corner.
