I have already tried all of the options that were suggested for Christian Chu
Can you post the part?
Welcome to the forum. If you'll click on the black text "Use advanced editor" at top right of the Reply box, then there will be a link at lower right to attach files. As Greg indicated, it will be very difficult to diagnose the problem without seeing the file (and we don't know which options were suggested for Christian Chu).
Here is the link
I have BOXX system for the last couple yrs and not seen it again
Must have something to do with video card
Teri: can you post your computer spec
Finally got this one to work but I get this problem frequently. I am fairly new to SolidWorks (4 months) and have been drawing decals to place on our rigs. As I bring them into an assembly and try to select them they select the item behind them instead of the decal that I am trying to place. I have no filters on and my system is all updated. We are using solidworks 2016. I reboot daily(usually several times a day)
is the decal a part or a "decal" as solidworks describes it?
cant select it or it isn't highlighting? try a double click, does it show you the dimensions for the feature?
I get nothing it just selects the part behind the one I am trying to select
we are talking an assembly? does it do the same thing in a part?
if in an assembly it is likely because the part you are trying to select is "transparent" try holding the shift key while selecting it.
Not that I have noticed
The shift key seems to be helping. How can I keep parts from turning transparent when I bring them into an assembly?
if any transparency is in the appearance of the part I believe it acts this way. so don't use transparency in your appearances.
I don't but it seems as when I bring them into an assembly they go transparent on me.
interesting. I am not finding a setting for anything like your describing. so right away when you insert a part into an assembly it changes to transparent? if you right click can you make it non transparent again?
yeah I can. I am beginning to think it is in my computer somehow, because, when I am trying to do an offset my offset lines disappear. I have to blindly select a line and delete it then the lines will reappear and I have to draw the deleted line back in.
looks like the appearance transparency threshold for this functionality is around 10%. can you check your part file appearances?
These are set at 0.00
if the shift key works try to disable this setting in your system settings (tools>options)
OK turned it off will see what happens when I try to insert my next part
Yeah it worked!!!!
I'm beginning to wonder if it's a graphics card issue. What card and driver are you using? See #13 at Frequently Asked Forum Questions for more information about graphics card problems.
I am beginning to think you are correct.
Do you have any reference mates in the parts you are inserting into the assembly?
I am trying to select the part to mate it
