As I sketch, my dimension input value is correct, but when shown on my sketch, it appears as though the dimension is scaled down. Nothing changes, just the value appears to be wrong. Example, i create a horizontal line with a dimension of 7". after hitting enter, the dimension will change to something like .08, but the length of the line is still 7", anyone else have the same problem

I have tried this at my end and everything is working fine. Even if you use some other document units even then 7" inch dimension does not come equal to 0.08 for other available units. There must be something wrong with your settings. Can you check whether you are getting this issue with other document templates (e.g using MMGS templates) and in drawing as well.

Thanks Guys for your response. I've been using solidworks for over 10 years and this was a bit mindboggling to say the least. But as you suggested Shiv, it might've been a setting or a gliche of some sort. The issue is no longer there, i restarted solidworks but not before messing around with my settings. Thank you all once again.
I found a simple method
Just create an empty viewport and copy/paste the sketch into the new viewport.
Scale sketch elements as required.
Dimensions are now correct.

Are you adding the " after you type 7? If you are what is potentially happening is that your units are setup to a different default unit than inches. You can force a dimension to a specific amount by adding the units as you type but when you go to measure it again it will have auto-converted in the display but will actually be 7"
