I have naming system for Parts, which is for example P01C1, P01C2 etc.
How can I batch rename all file-names of Parts in that kind of way and keep references.
There is many programs that can rename bunch different files into this order (even Windows Explorer), but if I use them I will loose all references, is there is any correct way to do this in SolidWorks environment?
With SOLIDWORKS 2016 you can rename components in the active assembly with references maintained and updated.
Other quick option is to use Pack and Go OR use SOLIDWORKS explorer to rename files and keep the references.

What I have is big Assembly with >100 Parts in it. Parts filenames are very different, for example:
15664,
Body1,
Body12,
asdfasdfa.... and so on. Big chaos.
What I need is to put in order them:
P01C1,
P01C2,
P01C3,
P01C4 ...and so on.
I found just way how batch rename with Replacing text, whichwould workout if I would have already files with same filename.
This is example how to do it with Picasa batch renaming photofiles. I want to do same just not loosing all references.

Remove name
To put a prefix : P001123314AAA_1234_Bulk Rename Utility
To put a sufix : P001123314AAA_1234_A ( but is a sequential alphabet. A_B_......._Z_AA_AB_........_AZ_BA_......)
After I rename the assemble
Ex :renameassemble
P0011233314AAA_1234(Assemble)
In this assemble I have the diferents parts ex:
P001123314AAA_1234_A
P001123314AAA_1234_B
.................
I have this program

With SW properly installed, you should be able to do a rename from Windows Explorer w/ right-click menu. Use the SW rename, not the Windows rename.

Pack-and-go is probably the best way to do this. Doing a SW rename from Windows Explorer only updates references within the same folder. Pack-and-go is more comprehensive.
Thank's for answer. Yes, of course, it is good for one or few files. But I have hundreds. That's why I'm searching possibility to batch rename it. I could not find any possibility to do this trough renaming files or Pack-and-go either.
I'll check this program if it possible to do what I need.
SolidWorks Explorer for renaming will not lose references.
The issue here is to do this to a lot of files at once. Renaming few or one file is not an issue here.
Check into SolidWorks Task Scheduler. It might work.
Just a heads up - renaming files can be a big pain either way you do it - before you attempt it save the entire folder on another drive. I prefer making an Excel list using the BOM and sorting the part numbers how you want them to be named, using that list to cross off the names used. I know this is a slow way to go, but if you screw this up and have two parts referencing the same model you just opened up a huge can of nightmares.
I rarely ever rename files now, but if I would need to do it and have a smaller file, I open up the main assembly then work down the feature tree and open and save as "New Name" and close. Once you get through all the parts then go to the folder and delete all the old numbers. If you do use pack and go then if you can save it to another directory, if nothing else a portable drive works well.
