Cutting a profile into a bend

I have a 90 deg rolled sheet metal part. I want a cut extrusionprofile in the part when rolled which then can be flattened todimension the profile. Using the fold - unfold options i can onlycut through the part rather than to a depth.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

A Sheet Metal (SM) part has the limitation that the thickness must remain the same throughout the part. So with only a partial depth cut, the SM part cannot be flattened.

You will have to use configurations to create what you need.
One config of the finished part where the cut-extrusion is cut to depth, another config with the cut going through to be able to show in the flattened state.

  Here is a solution for you. As Kelvin points out in his post you need to have constant thickness for SM to work. You have another small roadblock in that you can't have multiple SM bodies in a part.
  
  So you need to model the part a bit creatively. But you can model the part.
  
  See how this works for you. There are two configurations, Default and Flat Pattern with features selectively suppressed to get you what you need.
