looking to create voronoi models in SW
..I'd suggest using Rhino3D with the Grasshopper plugin.
..or, for 2D, a 3rd party program which can export dxf/dwg/eps/ai/pdf/... so you can import the vector data....or, a tool to convert bitmap into vector data.
The short answer is "no". At least not without a ton of effort.
But you can use something like Meshlab to get good the effect you are looking for from your SolidWorks model: http://meshlabstuff.blogspot.com/2009/03/creating-voronoi-sphere.html
MeshLab Stuff: Creating Voronoi Sphere
Thanks for all your suggestions...I found Meshlab and Blender to work but not great results for what I am trying to do.
I used to use rhino a bit, but don't know how to use Grasshopper. Ive been using solidworks for many years.
I just wish Solidworks would add some new commands and more abilities to create sophisticated abstract shapes like voronoi.
I am a Industrial designer trying to develop a new form of cooling patterns for our new product line. It's difficult to build with the commands that are existing in SW.
Again. Thanks for the quick reply's.
..yeah, I'd export your shape into Rhino3D or even Moi 3D... to generate the voronoi...
btw, for fun.. during easter, I did some holy eggs manually..
