Sketch Dimensions - Entering Twice?

I wonder if I am missing a trick.

When I create, say, a rectangle sketch, I place the corner and drag the opposite corner somewhere near where I want it to be. Whilst I drag, a dimension appears on each of the sides, with one already highlighted. Great, I want a 10 x 20 rectangle, so I type in '10', Enter, then the highlight goes to the other side, I type '20'  Enter and I have the rectangle just the way I want it.

However, in order to fully define the sketch and create the dimensions I will later use in my drawing, I have to select the dimension tool and create the same pair of dimensions that I just typed in.

Is this right, or is there a way to have SW assume that I actually wanted the dimensions I typed in to exist and to kind of 'default them in'?

Otherwise I don't see the point of the first highlighted boxes.

I hope I am missing something, because that would be a useful thing for the software to do.

A nice little tick box in the properties, please.
