Is there a way to backsave files from 2016 so they can be opened in 2015 sp 4.0? I know this is possible in sp 5 but we have not upgraded yet and I need to open a model from a supplier who is already in 2016.
..the only way is to save as - parasolid (x_t)... (the native format)
btw, even if you had sp5... it is a DUMB solid you are opening in 2015...that is, you can NOT edit features/sketches... you can only add new features...
Having these as "dumb" solids is ok. These parts are typically from a supplier that we will not be modifying. I noticed when I do a save as to the parasolid (*.x_t) under the options there are several output versions. What are these? Do I need to select a specific version to save from 2016 to 2015? If so which version?
Parasolid (x_t or x_b) version per SolidWorks release:
24 = 2012
25 = 2013
26 = 2014
27 = 2015
28 = 2016
