Greetings!
We are having an awful time creating section views in our drawings without crashing SolidWorks. For example I would start a drawing, insert my standard views and start the section view process. I would no more insert the section view and a crash would occur. I found that if I created a sketch first and then inserted the section I wouldn't crash as often but it did not solve the problem. I also found that just editing the view would cause a crash as well as adding dimensions. I spent some time with our VAR to work through what is causing this with no real luck.
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?
We are currently running SolidWorks 2015 SP 4.0 with hotfix #893815.
Thanks!
Rhonda
Are you running the section view on a solid part, or a part with surface bodies?
I have found that creating sections on surface body parts is pretty flaky, especially if the part is complicated and was imported from a STP or IGS file.
In such cases, I have had to resort to replacing the surface bodies with solid parts, either with import diagnostics or just by rebuilding it.
