I can not open any of my sldprt files in solidworks. I keep getting this error: "An error was encountered while trying to open your file. Is there a way I can fix this?
Welcome to the forum. Can you post your computer specs and SolidWorks version?
My computer has an i7 processor at 2.5ghz , 8gb ram, 965m gtx 2gb, with windows 10. I have the 2014/2015 student version of solidworks.
it could be that you are opening files created in the 2015 commercial version (or Education versions 2015-2016) The file format underwent a major change in 2015 (compressed) and opening those in earlier versions presented this error rather than the usual "future version" error. Your versions is the equivilent of the 2014 commercial version
I would suggest upgrading to the latest version if possible or asking for a parasolid file (presuming the files aren't available in SOLIDWORKS 2014 format)
Most probably this is a corrupted file. Nothing's more can be done
Can you attach an example *.sldprt file here that you cannot open?
Can you create a new file, save, close SolidWorks, restart SolidWorks and open the new file?
Windows 10 wasn't supported by SolidWorks until the commercial version 2015 sp 5. That could be causing the issue. You might try the suggestion below by Rudolf Van den Berg at Is anybody else having issues installing Solidworks on windows 10?
Here are all the files (GrabCAD - CAD library ). I think they were made in autocad 2015/2016. On another note, I tried downloading the 2015/2016 version and I kept getting a download error. Thanks!!
