Am not a tech guy and my solidworks electrical 15 came with a lot of troubles that is frustrating me to the core. I would appreciate if you can help me out.
First, the library that unarchives after fresh installation that should have over 5000 manufacturer parts just have 60 and also incomplete symbols etc.
Second, I can't create a new symbol using the new symbol command in symbol manager, it just disappears and after filtering/searching it still isn't there. But I can create symbol by duplicating an existing one.
Third, after using the "solidworks cabinet layout" command under "process" to create the 3D assembly of the line diagram using any manufacturer part. During routing the error "invalid connection point" and "missing connection point" shows, whereas these points are right there looking at me.
Four, when I try creating an electrical component, after defining the left, right, top, and bottom faces and creating the mate references and creating point by reference. After choosing the manufacturer part and terminal number with corresponding sketch point, it still doesn't create these connection points even though it doesn't show any errors.
Five, the usual blue icon that turns green on successful connection point creation doesn't even appear when am trying to create an electrical component.
Thanks for reading my long list of problems. Please I would appreciate any form of help.
A late reply but I've been dealing with this or similar errors on various occasions. Just ran into one that I haven't been able to solve so I searched the boards and found your (unanswered) question. Thought I'd share what I have learned to date:
Connection point errors can arise for a variety of reasons, but generally here is what I check when they pop up:
1. Look at the symbol, write down each circuit and terminal number (i.e. 0_1, 0_2, 1_1, 1_2) - so two circuits each with two terminals.
2. Look at the manufacturer part - is it identical to what the symbol requires? SWE is a little forgiving on numbers but never on circuit TYPE so I have gotten in the habit of making EVERYTHING a Misc. connection because trying to specify them is time consuming and has very little benefit. When you double-click the symbol and go to the "Manufacturer part and circuits" tab, is everything in the bottom window green? If not you WILL get errors. You can drag and drop to override any errors at this point (this is where SWE is a little forgiving).
3. Look at the 3D part - is it identical to the symbol and manufacturer part? At this point the software is no longer forgiving, so if your circuits and terminals don't align they won't mesh, and there's no drag-drop option to force it that I'm aware of.
So that's my usual routine when I come across errors like this. Hope it helps, if not a few months late.
