I'm using an HP Pavilion, AMD A10 Radeon R6, 8 GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Windows 10 Pro. I have Solidworks 15 x64 SP02.1, Educator version installed. Solidworks will not launch. I've tried changing compatibility settings, and I've tried to open it as an administrator. Nothing seems to help.

I installed the program before I ran the disabling routine for the Windows 10 security upgrade that interferes with Solidworks, so I ran the disabling routine, and then repaired the installation of Solidworks 15 x64. EDrawings and Solidworks Composer launch and seem to work.

I can't figure out why I can't launch Solidworks. Any help here would be appreciated.

Are there any errors, or does it just not load?

Running an educator version myself, and it is playing nice with Win 10.

  Hi Cory, no error messages at all. It just doesn't launch. After I click on the program icon it takes me to a message asking if I want to allow the program to make changes to my computer (that's because I'm running it as an administrator). When I reply yes, the message box goes away and nothing else happens. Not sure what's going on.....

Are you sure that you're running Win 10 Pro? The Pavilions I just looked at come with Win 10 Home with no option to upgrade.

I know that Radeon graphics cards often don't play nice with SW, but I wouldn't expect it to not open at all.

    Normally I'd say try running in OpenGL (see #13 at Frequently Asked Forum Questions ), but if you can't get SW to open at all I don't guess you could change that setting. Hopefully someone else will have an idea.
    
    Windows 10 wasn't supported until SW2015 sp 5. Have you tried running in Windows 8 compatibility mode?

      Good call. I missed the incompatibility issue between SP2.1 and Win 10.
