Simulating Factor of Safety

Question asked by Randy Brockett on Mar 1, 2016

I would appreciate any feedback if it is possible to run a simulation for failure on a FRP water filtration tank. The tank mold is made in halves with a lap joint to connect the two halves and the a third piece being the front cap is attached. My question is the creation of layup when these molds are put together and how could you test the joints with this layup essentially running the length of the entire seams to meld all 3 pieces together. There is also a base at the bottom. Additionally, any ideas to cut the groove for this lap joint along the rounded end. I was trying a cut sweep and also making the complete tank then cutting it in half but that doesn't work for the rounded end. I feel I am making it harder than it needs to be. I attached some pics.
