Hello, I am wondering how I can open two different sessions of solidworks at one time. I need to have an assembly on one screen, and a part on another
You can do 2 sessions if you have an available license.. Or
span your displays, the tile left or right your open part and assembly.
I agree with Randal, span your displays.
Hi Marc ,
you have a couple options , you can indeed run two instances of SolidWorks by simpling clicking on the launch Icon twice but this is not recommended.
I would recommend using the span option in the SolidWorks window
you can then designate with monitor you want each project on by using the arrows in the top right corner of the window
Edit : Tiling with a spanned display
agreed - not recomended.
never needed to run 2 (if it's slow in work - well that's life).
but i know that if u have 2 SW, opened and one crashes - you won't get auto back-up.
Sorry to dig up an old thread,
Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth here, I use dual screens and span displays, its great!
my only wish was that each part or assembly could run in its own cpu thread so you can still work on another part while one is processing, as solidworks only ever seems to max out one core of my processor, it would be nice to utilize the other 3 cores.
