Is there a way to configure the license server to only allow most users to use 2014 and below, and allow other users to use any version that a company is licensed for?
New for 2016 2016 What's New in SOLIDWORKS - Managing Access to SOLIDWORKS Versions
Hi Kevin, I don't believe this is possible. You can reserve different levels of SolidWorks licenses (eg standard, professional, premium) for users or groups, but you cannot specify what version (2014,2015 etc) they are.
For this to be possible, you wold need different versions of the SolidNetworkLicenseManager installed on the machine and be activated, which is not possible.
Only way I can think of is if you set up 2 different servers (maybe it can be done on 1 not sure though), point the 2014 users to the 2014 server installation, and point the 2016 users to the 2016 server. the 2016 server will allow them to open any previous version. same with the 2014 server install. you need to be sure to install the correct year versions of the license server.
No, you cannot do that. The way that license server works is that it will only run the version of SolidWorks you have on at the moment and below.
Example, if you have SolidNetwork License manager which is 2014, it will only run that version of SOLIDWORKS and below.
Hope this helps,
That is exactly what I was looking for, thank you.
