I'm with Solidworks 2016 SP2, and why in assembly, when i'm creating a sketch (not in a edited part), in the moment i'll click in smart dimension (D) it takes a few seconds to enable to dimension, It's really boring. Anyone with the same problem?
we have the same problem, ever since we installed sw16. also know of a few other company who have this problem. we have not been able to get a solution from our sw support.
only work around we have been able to find is instead of clicking "smart dimensions" click on the drop down menu under "smart dimensions" and use the horizontal and vertical dimensions. they seem not to be effect by this bug.
Now with the SP4 it's fixed. Try there
I've just checked and using Horizontal dimension or Vertical Dimension tool seems to be a great work around. Not perfect but it works.
Great solution! Can't believe I never tried that. Its somthing to do with SMART DIMENSION. Anyway, I have the same issue, but its 2016 SP3 and can't upgrade :/
I have this same problem...I've also shown this problem to my VAR. They can't seem to figure it out. We've gone thru reinstall, uninstall and reinstall MS.Net services. In my opinion, It's a problem with visual C++. Dimensions in Sketches and Assemblies must be coded differently, or it would happen in both places. to me this renders SolidWorks almost unusable. I am resorting to making my base geometry inside a part sketch, that seems to work okay for now.. But, I would like a fix...I am running service pack 4 and it's still the same problem.
I have a problem from time to time Using Smart Dimension and a sketched line in an assembly. Smart Dimension will not allow me to pick the sketched line. This is with 16 SP4.
But if I shut down SolidWorks and restart sometimes I can get it to select the line.
