Say I have 2 parts in an my assembly.
1) a flip door cover with a little dimple on it:
2)the body on which I want this dimple to intersect and cut out on is the housing:
How can I do this?
I would like to suggest you create this feature in another part, and then use measure tool or section view to check the design.
I've thought of this but it seems to be a very long winded way. I was hoping that there's a better way to do this as I find myself doing this quite often in other designs as well.
You can copy face from another part.
But need to break the reference after that.
I was confused by the surface extend and thought it did not do the surface cut. It appeared to be a bubble after the surface extend :
but I hid it and it looks like it did cut it after checking with the cross section:
Hi Shaodun, I tried this method with flat surfaces to a curved surface but it failed to rebuild giving this error:
any idea why?
Hi Edwin:
You need to copy the surface to Front Housing part, ( where you need to apply the cut with surface feature)
I checked your assembly, the copied surface is at Rear Housing part.
Oh yeah silly me! Thanks for that Shaodun.@
