How can I add more than one pipe file to routing library manager?

Hello

I faced a problem adding another pipe to library.

Adding through add component gives me msg "start solidworks first and open the part" (solid is open and part as well)

Simply making another part file in same directory not working. manager simply dont see it.

after hours of "playing" with different options i found that routing.db file simply not updating. deleting it gives an error.

Something is wrong with the manager. also i cannot add any pipe component. getting same error msg "start solidworks first and open the part"

Please help.

I have been having issues with routing.db for years now.
The only advice I can give you is to contact your VAR and see if they can provide you with an answer.
If they can't, and I don't expect them to be able to, then they'll have to contact Solidworks themselves. If enough people do that then perhaps one day someoneat Solidworks will actually take the time to see what it is that is wrong or what people or doing wrong so that it doesn't seem to work as people expect it.

  Hey Peter, thank you for your reply. BUT!!!!!
  I found solution for this issue!!!!! (i'm gooood )
  
  1. msg "start solidworks first and open the part" comes from not fully closed instance of solidworks - you should open task manager (of windows) and force close all solidworks.exe files!
  2. then open solid and start Routing manager - > Open a file you want to import to routing library - > and start importing (if all requirements are filled, you will be able to import your new component. even new pipe.)
  3. now to update your database file - > go to Pipe and Tubing database - > choose select component - > hit save (and if 1 step went well, youll see updating of database file (this may take very long if you have a lot of components)
  
  For me it worked well. I spent about 10 hours of this, but now i can share this issue fix (solidworks should do it, not me) with all

    My problem isn't that it doesn't import at all but that after importing something still isn't quite right with the routing.db because the Route Properties Template functionality doesn't work anymore.
    
    Good to hear though that at least you got your problem solved.

      Imposible to add new pipe to database, no way to craete new template. SOLIDWORKS 2015 Routing Library Manager doesnt work at all, its ....
      I can do piping when selecting parts manualy, otherwise I can choose only from default parts that comes with solidworks .

        Found broken solutions.
        Using DB that came with solid, you can add tubes, and add templates. I dont like it, but since I have no choice and solidworks not planing to fix this... This is the only solution.

I'm not sure that this will be of much help but I found SW Routing to be fairly "fragile".
If I saw these types of problems, I would try the following:
1. Shutdown SW and retry. Surprisingly, this often helps.
2. Shutdown everything and reboot. Sometimes some processes appear to "hang", which can be removed when rebooting.
3. I would then try to remove the Routing Add-in, reload into SW using the repair with the DVD and then to reinstall the Add-in.

While this may not help, it should only take about 30 minutes. Be sure to run the SW Settings Wizard before any repairs.
