I think, if I understand the issue you have to enable RealView. That will give you access to the reflective floor option (its grayed out now) and you can turn that floor reflection off. Also try enabling "shadows in shaded mode" in the SW graphics area to get access to the control.
I agree its a PITA.
Thanks for looking at this Rob... yeah, I understand that weird trick (which does not make any sense).. and... what that does is toggle off the reflection (which should not be there) ... but, the floor (that should not be there) is still there?
My current sanity workaround is to change the floor width/depth size to .001mm
YES, a PITA.. .what is strange.. when you open the file and render for the first time.. the floor is gone (normal).. but, if you start making changes.. the floor (which should not be there) reappears?? arrggggghhh....
With this problem I was fighting very long. I would say that there is no way to fix that... you have to click on a new standard Solidworks environment and the grey will be gone, but your specific light will be gone too.
That it never happens again, always ACCEPT when you are manipulating your scene... if you press CANCEL in the scene settings, it will appear again like that. So, just never press CANCEL ;-)
You can also try it... go to scene settings, turn off shadow, accept. That's the base for the problem. Go again to scene settings and press CANCEL... and here it is.
