Does any one know if it is possible to break a view diagonally (at an angle)? I have attached an example of my dilemma. I would like to break my stair stringer design on my 2D drawing in a diagonal perpendicular to the stringer. The 2D drawing function only allows horizontal or vertical. I can use alternate position however that makes the stringer lay flat and that not standard. My objective is to keep the view parametric as well. I called my subscription provider, and the Tech who I believe is good, said there isn't a way. However, I watched a You tube Tutorial from Javelin entitled "Tech Tip: SOLIDWORKS 2015 Tutorial - Assembly Break Views", and it shows a model view being broken in an assembly (model break view). I am hopeful, and this is part of my question,- can a broken view created in a assembly as a configuration be also used in the 2D drawing views for a drawing? It seems like it would? Does anyone know for sure?
Thank you in advance for any assistance in this matter!
I knew I had used this before but it looks like Kevin is correct. In 2015 you need MBD in order to use the model break feature. It is available to use in 2016 without having MBD. I would think you can make a configuration and cutout the section you don't want then use that in your drawing.
The screenshot is using 2016 without MBD. Of course you can break out as much as you want and use the config in your drawing.
Edit:... There are variations you can use alter what the break looks like.
