Edit Part in assembly forces Sketch tab in Command Manager

    Kyle Koehler
Under the new 2008 Command Manager...

When I am in an assembly and select a part for edit... the Command Manager switches from "Features" tab to the "Sketch" tab.

Is there a way to get it to default to (or stay on) the "Features" tab. Can't seem to see anything in the Options area to designate this or in the Customize setup for Command Manager.

I believe under 2007 the Command Manager did not do this.

Reason behind all this is the most of the time when I edit a part in an assembly I am going to use the Hole Wizard or add a chamfer, fillet, etc.

Anybody know how to designate a default.

      Thanks

          Hi Kyle,

The behavior should be the same in SolidWorks 2007 and 2008. WhenSolidWorks goes into Edit Part mode, it shows the Part version ofthe CommandManager (with an extra section at the beginning for"Edit in Assembly" specific tools. When it switches tothe Part CommandManager, it has the same tab active that was lastactive when you were in a part. I just tested this in SolidWorks2007 and 2008 and the behavior is the same.
