Introducing DFW Draftsight User Group

Discussion created by Thomas Allsup on Feb 12, 2016

Introducing a new North Texas group for our legacy CAD users.  We will meet quarterly to discuss Draftsight, Dassault Systemes CAD program that reads and writes AutoCAD data.  The Lab, a relatively new hackerspace with a classroom in Plano near US75 and Park, will host our meetings.  Eventually the meetings will be broadcast as webinars when the Lab’s equipment and software is completed.   Initially we will meet at lunch time with food and beverage provided.   Dassault Systemes and local VARs will also provide free giveaways.  Our regular agenda will be:

  11:30 Welcome

  11:40 Presentation #1

  12:25 Break

  12:30 Presentation #2

   1:15 Wrap-up / Giveaway

   1:30 Adjourn

Future presentation topics will include items like “Draftsight: A Truly Free CAD Alternative”, “SolidWorks World isn’t just for SolidWorks – Draftsight Topics at SWW2016”, “Using Draftsight to Create G-Code”,  “Draftsight Drawings Created by Spreadsheets”, and “Using Draftsight with SolidWorks”.  We will also offer engineering topics including GD&T and DFMA.  Of course, we will encourage users to contribute presentations to the group.

We will use our SolidWorks Forum page as our main communication tool with very limited emails. Membership is free but we will request an RSVP for each meeting to plan for food and beverages. Our first meeting will be middle of March, 2016!!!
