when in the schematic portion of SWE, it's a simple matter to splice wires. I can even splice into existing cable cores just as easily. However, for the new section that's spliced into the cable I cant associate its cores with a new cable. Not to mention tying the shields together.

Here's what it should look like in the schematic.

I think that the culprit is that you can not make a cable splice in the block diagram. Thus you have a cable that is terminated at one end but not on the other, and you can't make virtual terminals on that end either since its not physically attached to anything.

Is there a workaround for this scenario?

I suppose I could make a little "black box" object with the connection points I need, draw in the splices and "wipe out" the box itself.

would that be the proper approach?
