I am trying to make a gear that will push on a plate and lift 12 mm with a 3/4 of a turn. I have tried to use a circle with the shaft hole off center but I cannot figure out how to setup for 3/4 turn
Maybe try using a cam, something with a spiral profile, perhaps modified a bit?
This is exactly what I was trying to do. Now I need to figure out how do draw it.
CAn you share the file you used to create the drawing ? I use SW2010 x64 edition
In your assembly, you can use a Cam-Follower mate to keep the "gear" to the plate and use an angular limit mate to restrict the gear's rotation to the 3/4 revolution.
Also, following on Mr. Engberg's spiral post, remember the pitch is for one revolution, so you can do the math to get your 12mm rise (16mm pitch) or let SW do it in Manage Equations (see attached).
