It's hard for new users to learn the software when the menus and links don't match.
Can you tell me what tutorials you are running? Are they the step by step tutorials that display on the right hand side of the screen next to SOLIDWORKS? If so, those are in fact updated with each release and have been updated for SOLIDWORKS 2016. I just did some spot checking and did not find any specific issues. Can you perhaps provide some examples of menus or links that don't match since there are hundreds of tutorials so perhaps there are some instances that have been missed?
If you are talking about some other tutorials, can you please clarify?
Here is a screenshot of the icon that does not go anywhere in the tutorial. Also, the step above it (view toolbar Shaded option) doesn't appear to show up in the view toolbar. It shows up in another toolbar once I click it in the tutorial it seems.
I'm a brand new user. Maybe I missed where the description of the toolbars are to understand an overview of toolbars and their name.
Thanks for the clarification George.
I just looked into those and it appears we have a couple of limitations with the highlighting functionality from the tutorials that we need to improve. Those two commands are on flyout menus within the "Heads-up View Toolbar" and the highlight code does not yet work with this toolbar, so instead, it turns on the regular view toolbar to highlight the commands there (and there seems to be a further limitation that it is not highlighting the flyout that the realview graphics button is within). This heads-up toolbar is the one that is shown at the top of the graphics area and those commands are in the locations shown in my images below:
I'd appreciate if you can post back with any other cases you find if they seem to be a different limitation to these. Hopefully we can improve the functionality to also support showing the highlighting within this toolbar.
Here's another one. There is an image missing here and to a novice, I'm lost on how to make this happen.
I figured it out from the end image but it would be nice if the tutorials were gone through just to be sure they are accurate.
Our QA staff has already found this missing image case and it is in our queue to be addressed. Thanks for posting it.
