I have a need to have both an install of SW using a standalone license and an install using a network license on the same computer. Is this possible? If so is there any known problems to look out for. Wanted to check prior to attempting so things don't get really mucked up.

For testing purposes. Need network for access to SW2015 Elec.3D on network. Need standalone for testing SW2016.
hm.. correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't licence of SW irrelevant to version of software you're using (assuming you have an active subscription service).
I'm just saying, if you have licence for SW2016, then i think sw 2015 should work with it too... and 3D electric is separate licence.
so if you have them all on network, just install 2 version of SW on machine and use them.
Only a network license of SW can access a network license of 3D elec. Which at this point is 2015. If I install 2016 network it overwrites/deletes Electrical so i cannot access any Electrical. So i was wanting to standalone 2016,our server is not updated to 2016, not install Electrical, and cross my fingers that it doesn't screw up the 2015 install.
Hi Jay, if you have subscription service for SW and SWE you can update your license server to 2016 and still run all previous version of SW looking at the latest license server. I run a Virtual Machine for testing the new releases of the software and doing the installation configuration settings. Since the VM looks like it's on a totally different machine the registries don't have any chance of corrupting each other. I also use the VM if I want to test free trial software so I'm not creating garbage on my working computer if we don't like the software.
I recently had releases 2012 thru 2015 all installed on my machine. Didn't see any issues.
I do the same. In fact I have two virtual machines. One running the current SW/EPDM version that all my users are using and a second one for testing with the next SW/EPDM version or service pack. When I need to perform EPDM admin functions I do it on the first machine. This reduces the risk that I will log in as admin on my regular workstation and do something accidentally that only admins can do.
Not a bad idea but I'm just getting PDM Standard set up so all the admin stuff I'm logging into the server. I was admin of SmarTeam at the last company and there were some things like add variables or file types that you had to do in on the server database tools directly so I'm used to doing the Admin stuff there.
hm.. then maybe create another user account on your machine for the stand alone licence

Create a bat file that changes SW serial number in the registry. Run it before running SW and you can enjoy both standalone and network versions.
Please note that this is not officially supported and just an idea bulb on top of head
