I have a box that i shelled out it needs to open up from its midplane, should the ribs be drafted in the opposite direction as compared to the draft on the box?

Pretty much what Ed is saying is true. Think of the inside of your box, if you look into the box from the open end you should be able to see all the faces of all the features. This is to ensure that the tool can be extracted without the need for slides or undercuts.

Well, I hate to say this but you are right.
You do not necessarily have to reverse draft direction for internal versus external mold features.
Injectors,, slides and inserts can accomplish.
Yes. Otherwise the box could not be remove from a mold.
