Hinged truss structure

Question asked by Willem Van Opstal on Jan 14, 2016

Hi all,

Wish to calculate stresses and forces in the beams of a hinged truss structure.

I can achieve this by using weldments (pic1), but wish to use some graphical presentation of the ball hinges (pic2).

If treated as beams, not all joints are calculated using the revolved bodies in picture 2. I've read something about the ratio 1:3 for the cross section to automatically detect the joints, but I can't get it to work.

Any suggestions on how to compute this?
