Hope someone can help? I am trying to revolve cut the Grey profile in the attached image but can't figure out how to define the center axis?
Thanks for any help anyone can offer,
Revolve needs to use centerline that is part of the sketch, and since the center of the part is not in the plane of the sketch, you cant revolve around it.
Use a sweep instead. Create a sketch circle on the top (or use the original circle you used for the hub of your part!), and use tghat as the sweep path.
welcome to the forums
it might help to upload the part file
if you are having problems
so members can see and work
on your part-
but without the part file
my best guess here
is to shell this feature probably
hope this helps- have a good'n kelef
SW14 part att.
hope this helps- kelef
I think what you want to do is make that sketch on a plane that runs through the center of the circular boss. Then you can revolve cut the way I think you want to.
sorry missed you'd posted before I refreshed- my bad
true the best way,
I guess the part drawing calls for wall thickness-
hence the modeled sketch kelef
No worries, thanks for the help!
Hey thanks, yeah this would definitely have worked also. I just couldn't figure out how to get the profile to revolve as it kept shading on me without a center ref.
Hey Guys, thanks for all the help. I used the sweep and it worked great! I swear I tried this earlier but didn't know how it worked until I focused on that as the solution.
I actually wound up redrawing it as a 2d side profile and revolving it which got it done but took a bit. My original dwg was easier as I am duplicating dims from an existing component using just measured diameters vs having to figure out heights and lengths of the profile. I will definitely keep this in my tool box now!
This is my first time on the forum and really appreciate the responses,
