I have this dialogue when I try a static simulation. I am new at the simulation part of Solidworks so I apologise if this is an obvious fix.
I have my assembly fully defined, it goes through the meshing phase and then stops here.
It is the iterative solver and not the interactive solver
Your model is not properly restrained. Check all your contacts and fixtures, the scenario needs to be 'static' for the solver to solve it.
Thanks for your reply. I have several components and mates in the assembly. Is there something special I need to do to these for the simulation to work?
Hi, I created a new assembly with only 2 parts and welded the mates. This successfully worked. Is this what I am supposed to do with the mates?
Mates defined in the assembly are not used in simulation. In sim you have to define them under 'connections'.
Please check for tutorials about connections on youtube or do a training at you VAR.
Thanks for the reply Janko. I do check out tutorials on YouTube but surely the forum is the right place to ask questions?
Yes it is
But keep in mind that in many cases it is easier to check out a tutorial instead of asking it on the forum. Usually for the basics.
