I'm interested in hearing any comments running solidworks on a imac i7.
mine has an Nvidia Geforce775m 2g graphics card
Have you experienced any compatibility or performance issues.
I know this is not supported by Solidworks, but I just want to know how well it will run using bootcamp and win 7 pro.
I tried to use Simulation with I mac pro i7 and I got always an error message from the underlying FEM kernel. No problem instead with SolidWorks (2014).
So be careful: if you only need to model with SolidWorks then the I mac machine is ok.

I have run solidworks on a mac with VMware but I found the differences in the mouse and keyboard a bit too distracting and ended up buying a lap top just for solidworks.

Simulation (SW Premium) works on my MacBook Pro within Boot Camp (64 bit).
For small files simulation runs fine but large multi-body part files (1,000 parts or more) are not a good fit for simulation.
For large multi-body part files, I use a Boxx workstation to power through but in a pinch the Mac will do the job, provided you have the time, lots of time!

it was working but to slow compare to my workstation.

I've already used this kind of configuration with an old configuration using SW 2010 and by this time it was compatible but it was 32 bits.
I don't know if you can mount a bootcamp in 64 bits mode and if that will work with 2016 that is only 64 bits.
