I am preparing for CSWPA-DT..i am stuck at question 3 in which i have to measure cross section areas..my answers is 792.12mm ^2 but answer key says 924.12 mm^2..i am looking for my mistake..
You need to create this view to get the right answer
Maybe measure the combined area of all of the cross section surfaces. You arent including the ones on the other sides of your holes that aren't connected to the main surface you have shown selected.
If you refer to PDF file of sample exam they only ask to measure area of selected region (orange coloured)
To be honest, I don't think anyone who is taking this question for its face value would get it right. In order to get the answer they are asking for, you must pull an isometric view off of the cross section to see the full area that is being cut through. But the question asks for "The measured Area Y of the cross section area selected in the second image below (mm^2)". You simply cannot get that answer from that view.
i am confuse
Means i have to use Align section view instead of horizontal section view..
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the only way to get this option is to create the sketch for the cross section before initiating the section view command. If you initiate the section view command first, I don't believe this option is presented.
Yes and No. Ideally when you create the section view un-checking this option should give you the expanded vie but it doesn't work.
One workaround is to edit the sketch and change any construction line to solid line.
Other way out as you suggested, create the sketch first (old school way) and then click on section view.
Thanks! I was stuck there for some time, but starting from sketch really gave me the correct, full-width, section
I also had to delete some old lines that were there for some reason, to be sure the sketch is clean and concise.
Deepak, Thanks one more time! I just wrote my real DT exam to 190/200
This is what I see, maybe I am looking at the wrong sample exam? Tom
Pay attention that cutting line in the task is curved, your cutting line is straight
