Suppress / unsupress too slow, but otherwise very fast

Question asked by Ck Kim on Jan 4, 2016

Folks, I have recently built a new computer with the following components :

CPU : Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz

Graphics : NVIDIA Quadro K2000 2GB DDR5

SSD : Samsung 850 EVO SATA-III 512GB

Mo Bo : Gigabyte ATX motherboard DDR3 6Gb/s

RAM : G. Skill 16GB DDR3 PC3-19200 2.4GHz

I am overall very much satisfied with flashing speed with whatever I do.

Solidworks also works quite fast, but with the exception for suppress / un-suppress.

I have a pretty large assembly made of a few hundred parts.

Opening the Solidworks program, and loading the assembly are both completed in a few seconds.

But it takes more than 5~7 seconds to either suppress or un-suppress one single component therein. Or even a mate.

I tried performance optimization steps outlined in some PDFs, but the slower (un)suppress didn't improve.

What could be the reason here? Maybe i5 CPU is too slow compared to other parts..? Any comments will be appreciated.
